   Situated between the May 4th Road and Hudong Road in the downtown of Fuzhou city， the Second People’s Hospital of Fujian Province， an affiliated hospital of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine， was founded in 1990. It is also named The College of Clinical Medicine of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. During the past decade， the Hospital has developed into a general hospital of traditional Chinese medicine with advanced technology and strong capacity in medical service， teaching and scientific research.

    At present， the Hospital has a staff of 880. Among the 118 doctors with senior or associate senior titles， 74 are Doctor degree holders or Master degree holders. In recent years， 40 doctors have been awarded the title of Excellent Expert by the provincial government， 4 professors have been appointed as the advisors for doctoral students and master students， 3 doctors enjoy special allowance awarded by the State Council and 5 doctors are engaged in the “Million  Ten Million Talents Projects”. With such a group of famous experts in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine and talented doctors， the Hospital has played an important part in the development of the medical and health care service in Fujian Province.

    The Hospital provides 432 certified beds. Each year it admits 7，000 inpatients and more than 600，000 outpatients. In order to meet the public medical needs and serve the patients effectively， the Hospital invests a large part of its fund on improving its facilities and equipments. Now， the Hospital is equipped by sets of advanced scientific instruments and facilities， including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance， Multi-slice Spiral Computed Tomography.， Interventional Angiography， Esaote Du8 Ultrasound System ， Laser Lithotripsy System， Bone Densitometry， Aesthetic Laser System， Color Doppler Sonography System， DNA Sequence Analyst， Beckman Synchron CX7， etc.

    The Hospital has complete clinical departments and divisions. Its key provincial level specialized divisions of. traditional Chinese medicine are Division of Spleen and Stomach， Division of Rehabilitation， Division of Heart Failure and Division of Cerebral Vascular in Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine . The Hospital’s Medical Examination Center， Rehabilitation Center and Blood Purification Center are among the leadings in the specialized medical service in Fujian province. Chinese Traditional Medical Orthopedics and Traumatology is the only key subject of traditional Chinese clinical medicine included in the “211 project” in our province.

    The Hospital has high level competence in specialties of Ongology， Urology， Colo-proctology， Mammary Gland，Cervical vertebra， Geriatrics， Hepatobiliary Surgery， Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetology， Minimally Invasive Surgery， Intervention Treatment and Medical Iconography. While maintaining strong traditional Chinese Medical features， the Hospital has constantly introduced and developed new technology and conducted new research projects. It has successfully performed kidney transplantation， liver transplantation and cornea transplantation for its patients. It is the first hospital in China that has performed kidney transplantation for a child weighed less than 13 kilograms， and first hospital in Fujian province that has performed mother-son living relative kidney transplantation(LRKT) and husband-wife LRKT. The Hospital provides the state-level technology and skills in the endoscopic treatment for hepatobiliary calculus， ERCP， laparoscopy， hysteroscopy， arthroscopy， treatment for urinary calculus and prostate diseases， intervention treatment of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular diseases， various intervention treatments of cancer(tumor)， artery radiography， automated percutaneous lumbar discectomy (APLD) coronary radiography， treatment of alimentary canal tumor， and application of traditional Chinese medicine during perioperative period in tumor patients. With outstanding traditional Chinese medical features， the Hospital has developed more than 200 Chinese herbal preparations. The total number of prescriptions written by doctors from the Hospital reach 20，000 monthly.

    The academic level of the Hospital is among the advanced rank in Fujian province. The Hospital has established the following affiliates: Clinical Hospital of Fujian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine， Acupuncture and Moxibustion Institute of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine， Fujian Zhengqing Institute of Forensic Medicine and Fujian Cancer Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. Also， the Hospital has built up two second-grade national laboratories of Traditional Chinese Medicine， a central laboratory， and a stem cell laboratory to conduct research in DNA sequence reading， stem cell and Chinese herbal medicine fingerprint. Together with its affiliated institutes， the Hospital has shouldered important scientific research programs funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China， Ministry of Health， Ministry of Education， Fujian Provincial Education Bureau and Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Bureau. Its quality medical professionals have published a lot of valued theses in state-level and province-level academic periodicals. Many of its scientific research achievements have been granted state-level， provincial and ministry-level technology advancement awards. 

    Being a base of clinical education， the Hospital has set up 11 clinical sections to conduct teaching and research in Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine， Surgery of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine， Pediatrics of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine， Gynaecology and Obstetrics， Traditional Chinese Obstetrics， Traditional Chinese Orthopedics， Medical Iconography， Medical Laboratory science and Nursing Care. Two specialties are authorized to confer doctoral degrees and 6 specialties are authorized to confer master degrees. Each year， the hospital enrolls 40 doctoral and master graduate students.

    The Hospital actively participates in international academic exchange and has gained good reputation both at home and abroad. in its efforts to introduce the Traditional Chinese Medicine further towards the world. Each year the Hospital selects and sends researchers， doctors and administrative officials abroad or to Taiwan， Hong Kong and Macao for study， investigations and academic visits. It also invites international scholars and experts coming for academic exchange and giving lectures. Through these academic activities， the Hospital has improved greatly in medical treatment， clinical education and research， and has attracted and cultivated more and more highly qualified medical professionals.
